Today, a poem for husbands and wives, for lovers, who want to stay connected. We’re getting to that point in marriage where people ask us how we stay together.
Putting aside the fact that my husband is gorgeous and no man comes close, I would say part of our secret is that we don’t trust each other, we don’t even trust ourselves, we trust God. I would also say we don’t always even talk to each other, until we talk to God. We let God connect us, even when there seems like no connection.
I wrote this poem one night after God did a beautiful miracle in our relationship. I hope it blesses you.
Over Your Head
I said one too many words tonight
and you didn’t say enough.
We lay frozen in the darkness
because tenderness is tough
To come to, when the pieces of your heart
are over here, and over there,
And some of them exploded
‘cause the fight just wasn’t fair
I knew you’d never work out how to
love me how I need.
My complaining left you drowning
So you couldn’t take the lead,
Or find a way, through the tears and words,
To the meaning, that’s not said.
So I ran, left you alone,
And I went over your head.
Into the arms of a lover,
Whose very words give life.
Whose perfect caress, can heal the mess,
Who’s already fought the fight.
To the one who’s always perfect,
He is a fortress and a shield
And he loves me, and he knows
just exactly what you need.
And I’m sorry,
I’m so sorry.
I was wrong
To take so long.
I don’t think I’d prayed for ages,
I’d forgotten to hold on,
To the word that gives us life, and
To The gift that makes us strong.
To one who’s time is quality,
Who’s touch will always heal,
Whose loving act of service was the ultimate real deal.
It wasn’t fair to wait for you, to satisfy my needs,
It was cruel to insist it was my language that we speak.
It wasn’t love, we tried to share, without the Lord involved
It was empty, it was lonely it was merely body and soul.
And I’m sorry
I’m so sorry
I was wrong
To take so long.
Without a spirit connection we were tearing at the seams,
Lost somewhere deep inside ourselves,
Bleeding hopes and dreams.
But connected by the Spirit, of the living God
Our love is so much stronger, than you or I dreamed of.
We have love and understanding, that is very much alive
Because the one who knows us deepest, is on both our sides.

I encourage you to pray, ask the Holy spirit to connect you. All I can say is, he has such a big imagination. He thinks of ideas, and ways we never would, to keep love alive.
Be encouraged, be blessed.
Lots of love L.

Thanks Brenda, You might notice it did take me two years to share it, but now at least, I know the help it can be for others, thankfully I do it before the fight now! 🙂
