Gracie crowned

Grace – A Haiku Poem!

A smile, a touch. Warmth

Undeserved. Shining where it’s dark

Making dirty clean.

My friend, Vivian, a fellow blogger over at God’s Whispers of Truth (What an awesome name for a blog, don’t you think?) is a Haiku specialist, and her post yesterday was about Grace. You can read it here; Because of Grace.

I thought I’d honour Vivian with a response in Haiku! Haiku is something I usually shy away from because it scares me, having only 17 syllables to make a point, but it wasn’t so terrible. Thanks Vivian, you are such an encourager. Your warmth and worth is known across the ocean!

What comes to your mind, when you think about Grace?

toadFor me, after my own daughter, (Princess Grace above, who, of course, came to mind first) the U2 song, ‘Grace’ came to mind. And when I asked my husband what he thought about “Grace” he too began to quote it, clearly we’re both big U2 fans! So, I thought I’d link to the song here, in case it’s new to you. You may love it too.

And here are the Lyrics.

She takes the blame
She covers the shame
Removes the stain
It could be her name

It’s the name for a girl
It’s also a thought that
Changed the world

And when she walks on the street
You can hear the strings
Grace finds goodness
In everything

She’s got the walk
Not on a ramp or on chalk
She’s got the time to talk

She travels outside
Of karma, karma
She travels outside
Of karma

When she goes to work
You can hear her strings
Grace finds beauty
In everything

She carries a world on her hips
No champagne flute for her lips
No twirls or skips between her fingertips

She carries a pearl
In perfect condition
What once was hurt
What once was friction
What left a mark
No longer stings

Because Grace makes beauty
Out of ugly things

Grace finds beauty
In everything

Grace finds goodness in everything

Thanks Vivian, you have inspired and encouraged me to get out of my comfort zone! You keep going too, I love your Haikus or I never would have tried. Can’t believe 17 syllables can say so much. Gotta say, Grace is a favourite topic. Be blessed and encouraged today my friend, Lots of love L.

Your haiku blew me away! I like to keep them available for bad brain and eye weeks. Sometimes I pop one out fast, other times I get stumped but I enjoy the 17 syllable restraints for some reason. Much love Lauren my friend!!🤗😚
