Sun, sand, a view, and a day off together! What more could I ask?
Last Friday my husband and I walked over the northern headland from Newport to Bilgola Beach. We took our suddenly-adventurous son, who turned three the same week. The walk was significant, our first, almost-date in the day time (we only took one child after all) in a while.
For a couple whose courtship had consisted of similar scenes, beaches, surf, headlands, lookouts and always daylight, (due to my husband needing to be tucked up in bed early in those years), it was special. It took us back. It always does. It was really beautiful to be together.
Afterwards, when I looked back, as usual, I wasn’t in any of the photos, but what I did see as I browsed the father and son photos I’d snapped, was a familiar story; our life’s journey with God the Father.
So, I thought I’d share some pics and encourage you that way today.
Here they are setting off, the Son a little too eager to lead, heading in completely the wrong direction. The Father patiently letting the Son go, until he could go no further, then picking him up and carrying him in the right direction.
The Father carried the Son up the first set of steep stairs, all the way to the top. Together they jumped small steps and made discoveries. So much fun. Look at the Son’s eyes fixed on the Father below!
They ate and drank together.
Played on the beach, then began the steep journey home.
It wasn’t as easy. The Son was tired.
But the Father reached down and lifted up the Son, carried him and cheered him. Gave him back his laugh!
He lifted the Son even further, to give him a higher viewpoint.
They walked the rest of the way like this. As we emerged into the carpark, and the car came into sight, the Son, (very cutely) said, with oodles of renewed possibility, “Nothing can stop us now guys!”
Because frankly nothing is impossible when your Father lifts you up to see what He can see.
Be blessed on your journey with God the Father today. Fix your eyes on Him, let Him gather you into His arms, put you on His shoulders and may you see the endless possibilities from His vantage point.
Be encouraged by the Father’s love today,
Lots of love,
