Proverbs 10 min. Challenge (Proverbs 8)

Wisdom’s Call. This week’s 10 minute challenge in Proverbs took so much longer than 10 minutes! The concept was good, “I’ll illustrate the chapter!” The idea seemed great at the time and I jumped right in feet first, no second glance at the clock or second thoughts…… to be honest, in amongst all the kids on school holidays, it took about 4 hours. Not much wisdom there.

So, the lesson from today? You can know all about wisdom, you can write about it and illustrate it with pretty pictures, but unless you actually engage wisdom, the knowledge of wisdom is useless. It too will pass away. Wisdom needs to be consulted. Wisdom needs to be part of the decision making process, and the rest of the process! Wisdom’s treasure cannot be buried or locked away for safekeeping. It must be used and shared and spread about your life for all to see the benefit.

How do you consult wisdom? (What should I have done?) You stop. You ask yourself, “Is this wise?” You pray. You check in with God, “What would You have me do Lord?”

God’s wisdom brings life (a whole 3 hours and 50 minutes extra life in my case!) if we listen and heed the call. I hope these pretty illustrations bring life to you,  they’ve encouraged me, in a time wastey kind of way. Most of the text is directly quoted from Proverbs 8 NIV version but some is paraphrased from longer sections, and I left out one or two verses because they were repeated elsewhere.

Be blessed, be encouraged. You be the judge, if the pictures speak louder than the few words I could have written in 10 minutes.

Lots of love,
