Proverbs 10 min Challenge (Proverbs 16)

I don’t know about you but I am constantly thinking about planning. It is just a mum thing? Goals, lists, strategies, ideas, they are everywhere, on bits of paper, backs of receipts, in the diary, on the calendar, in my computer, on my phone, in my head, in margins of books … There are plans I need to make, plans I have made, plans I would like to make, crossed out plans I succeeded in carrying out, and plans that failed.

Proverbs 16 is great encouragement for the planner.

How do we plan in a Godly way? Proverbs 16 has answers… and I have 10 minutes to capture them.

Here we go;

Planning tip #1 Take it all to the Lord! (Trust the Lord with every little detail.)

1To humans belong the plans of the heart,
but from the Lord comes the proper answer of the tongue.

All a person’s ways seem pure to them,
but motives are weighed by the Lord.

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans.

The Lord works out everything to its proper end—
even the wicked for a day of disaster.

When the Lord takes pleasure in anyone’s way,

he causes their enemies to make peace with them.

In their hearts humans plan their course,

but the Lord establishes their steps.

33 The lot is cast into the lap,
but its every decision is from the Lord.

Planning tip #2 Keep Your Plans Honest

Better a little with righteousness
    than much gain with injustice.

17 The highway of the upright avoids evil,

  those who guard their ways preserve their lives.

25 There is a way that appears to be right,

but in the end it leads to death.

30 Whoever winks with their eye is plotting perversity;
    whoever purses their lips is bent on evil.

Planning Tip #3 Hard Work and Patience Will Be Rewarded.

26 The appetite of laborers works for them;
    their hunger drives them on.

31 Gray hair is a crown of splendor;
    it is attained in the way of righteousness.

32 Better a patient person than a warrior,
    one with self-control than one who takes a city.

I do like that nowhere does Proverbs 16 say, “Stress over your plans, worry about them!”

I love the reminder to keep bringing it all to the Lord, he’s got you! He’s got this! Be encouraged today to put it all your plans in God’s hands. Stay true and work hard, you will be blessed!

Lots of love,

L
