God help me i… began in the shower. A washing. A cleansing. A complete shock to be honest. I was happily having my shower when God downloaded all the chapter headings for a book about sex into my brain. It was not a topic I had imagined myself writing about, so I said to God, “If this is really you. I want confirmation.”
………..Well you know the end of the story because here we are and the book is on it’s way.
But more about the book later. For now the fun stuff. Let’s encourage each other. This blog is all about keeping it real. I am writing about what is really going on day by day in my walk with God. Not just the sex part. the whole of me part. I have a really bad memory and I am a prolific pray-er so I get stuff from God all the time and if I don’t repeat it quickly I forget. So I’m writing it all down.
Plus this is about being a witness. I am not perfect and I have a more than imperfect past. However, I discovered, very early on in my Christian walk, the power of witnessing. The telling is so important because when I tell my story of how Jesus saved and changed me, not only am I witnessing to others, I am agreeing with God. I am speaking his truth into my own life. The more I say it the more it is true.
1 Corinthians 6:9-12 says,
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
God no longer calls me what I was (pretty much all of that list above). He calls me what I am now, washed, sanctified and justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. I am free from all that held me back and all that held me down because of the God who helps us.
Hebrews 13:6 says,
So we say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
God help me i … began with God helping me.
