Proverbs is a wonderful book in the bible. It has 31 chapters so it can be read, one chapter per day, in a month, give or take a day or two, depending on the month. I’ve heard people say, “Read it every January.”
I’ve decided to read it one chapter per week for 31 weeks. The reading usually only takes 2-4 minutes. Then I set myself a challenge to respond in someway to the chapter in 10 minutes. I might write a song, or a poem or a skit, I might just write a list or do some grouping of ideas from the Chapter, one day I might even draw something and photograph it (there’s a challenge for a week to come!). If you have any suggestions for what I can do with a chapter, leave a comment, I’d love some ideas.
For me this is a great way to delve deeper into a book of the bible. And one about wisdom! So, who can go wrong? It is also a way to write uninterrupted in our house, because my kids are the kings of timed challenges. You put a timer on in this house and everyone respects it. (Well nearly everyone, the three year old usually needs a bit of setting up beforehand!) My daughters were so excited, that Mum was doing a 10 minute challenge, they sat and watched the timer for the entire 10 minutes in week one! So cute. Also so wonderful, because they are respectfully watching their mum, study the bible.
Each week I will add links to this page, so that you can find all posts relating to the “Proverbs 10 min. Challenge” in one place. In the end this could be a study resource, or conversation starters, available to anyone reading through Proverbs, individually or with a group. Or maybe it will just encourage people to read and enjoy and be changed by the bible. That would be great.
Be blessed, be encouraged,
Lots of love,
